Job description

JOB OVERVIEW
The primary duty of a beekeeper is to keep hives healthy and productive, for agricultural and commercial purposes. Job duties include construct and clean hives, splitting colonies, collect and package any hive products including honey, beeswax, pollen and related honey products.
This job may include gathering honey, raising bees to help with pollination in farming areas, or helping create specialty products from honey or honeycomb. Also, this job requires to work directly with honey processing and bottling equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Beekeeper is responsible for assessing the health of the hive, checking for mite infestations, monitoring, and treating the hive when health problems arise, and maintaining detailed records of health, medication administration, and track inventory of production (honey, syrup, pollen, etc.).
Beekeepers must wear and maintain special protective clothing and gear such as veils, gloves, and suits. They also must properly use bee smokers and other hive tools to safely access the hive.
Beekeeper responsible for build and manage queen rearing operations, identify and report hive health concerns, market honey products to consumers, clean and maintain beekeeping equipment and other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Special Requirements

Due to the unique nature of the work to be performed, applicants are required to posses up to 3 months of verified experience as a beekeeper; applicants must provide the name, address and telephone number of any previous employer used as reference.

Due to the unique nature of the work to be performed it is required that applicants may not have bee, pollen, or honey related allergies.

Applicants must have or be able to obtain within 30 days of employment a valid U.S. drivers license.

Applicants must provide beekeeper training certification from a valid U.S. Accredited Institution.

Due to the safe and effective performance of the job duties, applicants must be able to understand and communicate in English.
