Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by the supervisor. Job duties will be operating farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest, and store grain crops such as corn, cotton, soybeans and rice. Attach farm implements, such as plow, disc, and drill to tractor. Till soil: plant and cultivate grain. Tow harvesting equipment. Drive and operate self-propelled combine, John Deere R series tractor, Case and Kamatsu Excavators. Driving internal and freightliner trucks. Pulling hopper bottom trailers and lowboy trailers. Perform a variety of duties such as lubricating and doing minor repairs to farm machinery and driving grain trucks to transport crops to elevator or storage area (no CDL required).
Detailed Work Activities

• Workers may adjust and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions.
• Attach farm implements or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools.
• Drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools.
• Guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines, and to discard diseased or rotten products.
• Irrigate soil, using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps.
• Load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks.
• Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery.
• Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines, and irrigation equipment.
• Irrigate soil, using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps.
• Load and unload crops or containers of materials, manually or using conveyors, hand trucks, forklifts, or transfer augers.
• Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery.
• Operate towed machines such as seed drills or manure spreaders to plant, fertilize, dust, and spray crops.
• Position boxes or attach bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products, removing and closing full containers.
• Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers.
• Walk beside or ride on planting machines while inserting plants in planter mechanisms at specified intervals.
• Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years or older. Must be able to lift 60 lbs. Minimum of 3 months experience in planting, cultivating, and harvesting soybeans, cotton, corn, and rice is required. Valid drivers license required or must be able to obtain a drivers license within 30-90 days of hire to operate the companys vehicles. No CDL required. No minimum education required. Employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants at the employers expense. The majority of the workday is spent on ones feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other natural elements.
