Job description

Welder will operate appropriate agricultural equipment to put together agricultural-related mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions.

Take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements). Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded. Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead). Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety. Maintain a safe working environment and used appropriate personal protective equipment. Comply with company policies, safety regulations and legal guidelines. Other duties may be assigned by management.
This responsibility falls under the FLSA definition of secondary agriculture since the job duties are incidental and in conjunction with Heritage Farms’ farming operations.
Workers may also occasionally perform irrigation duties, including irrigating crops with booster pumps and moving in-out sprinkler systems. Clean fields and ditches. Operate tractors and farm equipment. Weeding with crew. Harvest with harvest machine, tractor and trailers. Harvest various crops by hand with crew. Perform sanitation duties, including washing and disinfecting farm equipment. Driving a company vehicle may be necessary. All field duties are performed at Heritage’s facilities in Winnemucca, Nevada.

Special Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications: 12 months welder experience. Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures. Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.). Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.). Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus as needed. Workers must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently. Work is performed outdoors in open fields and can involve exposure to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold and other elements of the normal outdoor grove environment. Temperatures can range from 20 degrees F to over 100 degrees F during the period of employment. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the work and working conditions described.
