About CDM

Centro de los Derechos del Migrante, Inc. is the first transnational migrant workers’ rights organization based in Mexico. Since its founding in 2005, CDM has been driven by its mission to improve the conditions of low-wage workers in the United States.

With its binational, multilingual staff and geographic outreach, the organization helps Mexico-based temporary, seasonal, recruited workers defend and protect their rights as they move between their home communities in Mexico and their workplaces in the United States. Today, with headquarters in Mexico City, and offices in Juxtlahuaca, Oaxaca and Baltimore, Maryland, CDM has established itself as a powerful, transnational agent of change.

CDM's provides a wide range of services and programming to support a worker-driven movement to fight for international labor recruitment reform and improved employer accountability against labor abuse. This includes, on-the-ground outreach to workers, education on labor rights, leadership development training, comprehensive legal services, and policy advocacy.

El Portal Migrante is a continuation of CDM's efforts in recent years to use technology to increase justice for migrant workers. These efforts started with Contratados.org, a recruitment transparency tool that creates a mechanism for employer and recruiter accountability by allowing workers to share their experiences and review those actors. El Portal Migrante is CDM's newest initiative to further empower workers at the starting point of the recruitment process, when individuals are searching for jobs.
