Job description
Operate semi-trucks to move grain to elevator and small tractors to maintain the sites, receive and ship grain from the bins and from elevator to trucks. Prepare tickets to account for the number of bushels that are taken in and received, monitor the moisture of the grain while stored in the bins to ensure compliance with grain standards, and clean the bins and troughs during shipment, which includes shoveling the grain that's unable to be removed with the augers and belts. Fumigate bins to remove unwanted pests, monitor grain temperature to prevent damage, and perform housekeeping duties such as sweeping and washing equipment. Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment and vehicles (including welding). Workers may receive salary increases and bonuses based upon merit, skill, and/or experience at the sole discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
2 months of farming experience required. Since the position requires the operation of vehicles and machinery, all applicants must have a clean background check and driving record. Drug testing may be conducted post-hire at the employer's expense and is not part of the interview process. All workers may be subject to mandatory testing if they have been involved in a reportable accident or upon reasonable suspicion that drug use is impacting job performance. Any worker found to have a criminal conviction, DWI, commits serious acts of misconduct, refuses to follow instructions, violates work rules, fails to perform job duties competently, or other lawful job-related reasons will be terminated. The background check will be conducted post-hire at the employers expense. The background check is used to check for history of DWIs or DUIs since the workers are operating vehicles and machinery.
