Job description

Bus Driver: Drive a motor vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more over the road to transport farm workers on a planned or scheduled basis as directed by the employer or supervisor. Driver may pick up workers from different housing sites or pick up points and take them to assigned work site, transit between work sites, and return workers back to the housing site or pick up point at the end of the work day. Make trips to grocery stores, laundromat, airport, and governmental agencies, medical and dental offices. Must abide by precise instructions and strict but necessary safety rules and policies. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment are in good working order. Maintain logs of working hours following all applicable state and federal regulations. Employer assures that driver will be paid the offered wage rate for actual driving time, including but not limited to trips to fuel vehicle and time spent maintaining the vehicle. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Negative result may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Use of cell phone or other personal electronic device while driving strictly prohibited by law and violation may result in immediate termination. Must commit to entire anticipated period of employment. Requires valid commercial drivers’ license issued by a U.S. state or foreign equivalent with passenger endorsement. Must be at least 23 years of age. Must obtain a DOT medical examiner’s certificate before commencing work. Requires 12 months CDL driving history.

Blueberry Worker: Perform manual labor including planting blueberry plants in field, pruning/shearing field-grown blueberry plants, manual labor on a mechanical blueberry harvester, hand-harvesting blueberries, packing blueberries, and hoeing. Grade, sort, or classify berries by size, weight, color, or condition. THIS JOB DOES NOT INCLUDE OPERATING OR DRIVING MECHANICAL BLUEBERRY HARVESTER, TRACTOR OR FORKLIFT. Requires three months verifiable experience pruning/shearing field-grown blueberry plants. Prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Negative result may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs. repetitively throughout the workday. Must not hinder another worker’s productivity. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination. Must commit to work entire contract period.

All workers are required to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly important when touching crops for human consumption. Workers are required to cleanse their hands by washing thoroughly with soap and water before entering field for harvest activities and after each break. Smoking and the use of tobacco products prohibited during working time.
