Job description
Attend to, groom, and care for horses according to instruction. Perform general stable care. Provide horses with water, food, and supplements as instructed and administer medications as necessary. Assist in pre-foaling, labor, post-foaling, foal turnout and care, and mare teasing and weaning. Perform horse facility, paddock upkeep, fence repair to prevent equine injury, groundskeeping to avoid having hazards on the grounds that could injure horses when they are walking on the grounds, brush clearing to help avoid having noxious weeds in he area which can injure the horses or cause them to be ill and maintenance to prevent equine injury. Transport horses between stable, grazing, and training areas as directed. Workers may perform other labor incidental to the listed job duties, such as cleaning animals' quarters, maintenance of farm facilities, and equipment, and other similar tasks. Be able to lift 50 pounds.
Special Requirements
B.2: Work Experience: 1 month of experience working with horses or on farms. Supervision: Workers will perform all job duties according to the instruction and supervision of the farm manager, horse trainers, riders and other senior staff. Extremely specific instructions may be given regarding care for particular horses, sometimes on a daily basis. Stable Attendants will not supervise any other workers and will regularly report to their supervisors regarding work performance. Workers must be physically able to work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time, be able to lift 50 pounds, and must be able to endure manual labor through extreme variant weather conditions, between temperatures of 20 and 100 Fahrenheit, high humidity, wind, rain, sleet, snow, etc. Workers must appear promptly at or before the designated start time on each workday and completely perform a full day of work until the designated end time.
