Job description

Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines, and irrigation equipment. Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools. Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery. Spray fertilizer or aid in application of pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers. Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions. Operate farm equipment to plant, fertilize, move workers, dust, and aid in the application to spray crops to haul crops, supplies, tools, spread manure, and to bring crops and workers out of fields. Irrigate soil, using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps. Assist in onion harvest, driving a bin bandit or tractor. Fixing leaks at farm fields, working on irrigation system, hoeing weeds pre/during/after harvest for onions, chile & cotton, picking chile during season, cutting onion tops, driving bin bandit, servicing equipment, driving tractor. Aid with dumping chile buckets into the field bins and working on the drip lines.
