Job description

Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, grain carts, sprayers, combines, back-hoes, mowers, track-hoes, ATVs, and side-by-sides. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job also requires participating in irrigation activities including setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; light welding for equipment repair; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, gates, barns and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; transporting gravel from a gravel pit to the farm to use on roads and driveways when required; receiving crop for drying and storage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain; transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scale tickets; and shoveling grain. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer. Employer will abide by all of Colorado's agricultural laws to include Senate Bill 21-087 ("SB87") and the Overtime and Minimum Pay Standards Order (COMPS order) #38.

Special Requirements

Job requires having, or being able to obtain, a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Drug screening and criminal background checks may be possible post-hire at the employer's expense. Work will be performed outdoors, which will require the workers being exposed to summer and winter conditions in CO. Job duties will require workers to push, pull, sit, walk, stooping, bend over, and perform repetitive movements. Basic English literacy, reading, and math skills required.
