Job description

Employees will manually be engaged in preparing fields/soil to support crop production by removing stumps, laying irrigation pipes, laying plastic, mulch, planting, weeding, raking, cultivating, bailing, harvesting, spreading and/or loading. Greenhouse work by planting seeds, watering, transplanting plants/cuttings and labeling containers. Tie/position/staking/fastening plants. All the tasks in this job description constitute one (1) job; the employer may assign workers to different tasks on any day or to multiple tasks during the same day in the sole judgment of the employer. Workers may be required to perform work, on the farm, that is incidental and in conjunction with general farming on the farm listed in the application, such as performing hand gathering of pine straw mulch, hand or machine bailing, loading, cleaning and repairing farm buildings, perform general plant maintenance, spraying to kill weeds, apply fertilizer, mow, seed beds, cleaning and maintaining drip irrigation systems, pick up trash, clean, sweep, mop, take out trash, and other farm duties as assigned. Tractor Operation: Workers may be required to drive a tractor with attached equipment through the field or between fields incidental to the job being performed. Workers will be instructed in the safety and operation of the tractor before driving the tractor. Truck Driver: workers may drive truck or van over the road. Though not a hiring requirement. If a worker drives a company vehicle during the period of employment, then at the time of operating the company vehicle the driver must possess a valid driver’s license issued by a U.S. state or foreign equivalent and operate the company vehicle in accordance with the license restrictions and vehicle classifications applicable to that license. Tractors and trucks should be driven in a manner to protect the operator, other workers, products, crops, and equipment. Repeated failure to obey safety requirements and operating instructions may result in termination. Workers may lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Work is in inclement weather conditions including extremely hot, humid, cold, and/or rainy weather, with prolonged walking over uneven ground in dusty or muddy conditions, bending and reaching. Workers must take care to handle tools, equipment, and product in a manner to avoid injury or damage. Work specifications can change from time to time during the season due to crop or market conditions, even on the same crop. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given each working day. Employer, in its discretion, may offer a higher wage rate or bonus to a worker employed under this job order due to work performance, skill or tenure. 3/4 of work guarantee. All tools, materials and equipment will be provided at no cost to the employee. Must show proof of legal authority to work in the USA. Workers will supply their own work clothes. Must be 18 years of age.

Special Requirements

Drug testing will be conducted upon accident at employer's expense. In the event that the employee refuses or fails testing, immediate termination of employment will follow.
