Job description

Workers will perform activities to breed and raise live crickets for use in pet food and bait. Will feed, water, clean cages and perform general care for product on daily basis. Crickets are grown in boxes which are kept in whse facilities on employers farm. These boxes are 4ft in length and weigh approx 50lbs each. Boxes are stacked on racks, 6ft in height, and kept inside whses. Working facilities must maintain a temperature of 90 to 100 degrees. Workers will pull boxes from racks, remove filler, clean/remove all unwanted product (manure, food) and return cleaned filler to boxes for reuse by crickets. Mature crickets must be removed, packed onto boxes, loaded onto carts and taken to packing area at employers instruction. Eggs and baby crickets must also be moved to appropriate containers / locations. Workers must climb ladders while carrying 50lb bags of feed for filling feed bins. These activities must be preformed on a daily basis. In preparation for market workers will pack crickets in boxes & load onto trucks. Keeping boxes/filler and all work areas clean throughout the season is crucial to the growth and production of crickets. Working with this product requires extreme care and proper handling techniques to avoid loss of crickets. Handling of live product can create high stress levels for workers. Workers must be able to walk 5 - 10 miles daily, lift up to 50 lbs, and climb to heights of 6 ft. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures inside and outside of whses. Other misc activities will be performed both inside and outside of warehouses. Included is the ability to operate tractors, lifts, small power tools & hand tools. Workers will maintain grounds and buildings located on farm. Requires 3 mos verifiable on job experience.
