Job description

Employees will operate equipment such as combine, sprayer, tractors, UTV, and pickup trucks. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Employees will perform field prep work and maintenance which includes tillage work, ditch mowing, turn road smoothing, pulling beds, and pulling middles; planting crops with tractor and planter or drill; drive a ton truck with seed cart to field and load planters; spraying crops with self-propelled sprayer; harvesting crops with combine, driving grain cart; backhoe and blade work such as installing culverts, cleaning out ditches, etc.; irrigate crops by laying poly pipe with machine, poking holes in pipe, monitoring pivots, monitoring row rice water levels, performing minor pivot repairs and poly pipe repairs, working with 100% electric irrigation equipment and 80% automated, only 1 power unit with generator; spot spray culverts, turn roads, and wells with UTV and hand sprayer; weed eating and mowing with a zero turn around some of the farm houses; shop work and equipment repairs; maintain a clean and organized farm shop and do some equipment repairs and maintenance; change oil, service equipment, service trailer trucks, rebuild planter, wash equipment with pressure washer, etc; receiving crop for drying and storage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain; transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scale tickets; and shoveling grain. Duties also include manual labor such as using hand tools in fields; lifting items as needed; daily equipment repairs and maintenance; constructing and maintaining levee gates as needed, light weeding with a hoe in fields when needed; loading chemical for sprayer; tarping trucks; weed eating around farm (wells, culverts, telephone poles, places we can't get the mowers); hooking and unhooking equipment; sweeping shop and keeping it picked up; loading planters (usually with seed cart belt, but occasional loading with paper sacks to finish off a field); poly pipe (poking holes and repairing pipe, we have a poly pipe machine for rolling out and picking up). Other equipment that will be operated by employees includes GPS equipment, planter, grain drill, backhoe, grain cart, chisel plow, listers, disc, land plane, roller, mower, forklift, and side by side. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Employees will perform custom combining crew duties only at the locations of the fixed site growers listed in the itinerary. Custom combining duties will include operating combines, tractors with grain carts, and non CDL farm trucks to harvest crops. While performing harvesting duties workers will be required to perform repair, maintenance, and service on combining equipment when necessary. Workers will also be required to change cutting heads of combines when necessary. All duties related to planting, irrigating, spraying and cultivating crops will only be performed on the farm and in relation to the crops owned and controlled by Riddick Farms Partnership.

Special Requirements

Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive sitting, walking, or repetitive movements. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
