Job description
Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, and harvest crops. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, loaders, skid steers, swathers, spray equipment, and various attachments including balers, spreaders, sprayers, mowers, ditchers, rock pickers, windrow turners, trailers, planters, disks, seed drills, strip tillers, and grain carts. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job will also require managing irrigation systems including pivots and flood irrigation; loading trucks with compost; cleaning and selling crop seed; operating large volumes of compost and growing seed sales from the company; shoveling compost, manure, and dirt; lifting agricultural commodities and other items necessary to the farm; performing mechanical repair and maintenance on equipment; cleaning and power washing equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; and regularly servicing equipment. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. Employees must be able to lift 50 pounds; may experience extensive sitting or walking when operating equipment; may be exposed to extreme temperatures. Random criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
