Job description

Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray with herbicide and pesticide, cultivate, harvest, transport crops to elevator or storage area, and transport farm materials. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, backhoes, mowers, track hoes, spreaders, water trucks, ATVs, and side-by-sides. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job also requires participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; constructing and maintaining levees; performing grounds maintenance such as mowing and weed control; welding for equipment repair; using cutting torches; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, gates, barns and all farm equipment; operating drill presses, air tools, battery powered tools; overhauling engines; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; fixing flat tires; changing tires; operating a grain bagger and grain unloader; and attaching grain bags to the unloader. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often, and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Special Requirements

Workers will be required to have or be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Workers will be performing job duties outdoors during times when temperatures could exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Job duties will require workers to sit, walk, or perform repetitive movements for extensive periods. Employees must have basic English literacy and math skills. Criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
