Job description

SUMMARY:
The Landscape Supervisor with a CDL license loads, transports, unloads and delivers materials and equipment to various locations. The driver also assists in maintenance, equipment operation, or provides support to other divisions as deemed necessary by the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drives and hauls all vehicles, trailers, and straight trucks owned or leased by the company in a safe and efficient manner.
• Analyzes and determines the safest and most efficient way to load, transport, and unload material
and equipment. Evaluates the load to determine the following:
o The truck and trailer are adequate for the load.
o The load has been adequately secured.
o Proper signage has been considered.
• Reports on time, in company uniform and professional appearance to designated location specified by Operations Manager.
• Loads and unloads materials onto truck trailers and drives trucks to transport machines and material to and from job sites.
• Follows navigation directions to job site provided via GPS.
• Maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Obeys traffic laws and follows established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Reads maps and follows written or verbal geographic directions.
• Plans or adjusts routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
• Completes timesheets accurately and in a timely manner.
• Completes Driver’s Vehicle Inspection for any vehicle that requires a CDL. Turns into mechanic daily.
o Pre-Trip Inspection: completed prior to use.
o Requires Repair: complete for any and all maintenance and property damage issues.
o Post-Trip Insepction: completed after use.
• Operates a mulch blower hose and wireless remote to control the proper flow and application of mulch.
• Uses a backpack blower to remove dust and debris from windows and surrounding outside areas and structures.
• Promotes positive public relations, image, and environment of mutual respect between all parties.
• Communicates all information to Operations Manager regarding all timesheet information, problems on
the job, potential hazards, and recommendations to ensure successful job completion.
• Ensures proper care, maintenance, and operation of company equipment; ensures all machines
are greased and maintained per equipment maintenance policies.
• Maintains proper housekeeping at the shop, customer jobsites, company vehicles and equipment.
• Supervises and directs the work of up to 4 laborers.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is to remain in a stationary position for 75 percent of the time while operating motorized equipment and machines. The individual must position self to operate and repair machines, including underneath and above the machine. The individual needs to occasionally move about at sites, in and out of the truck, to load and unload the products; positioning themselves to move and stack products onto and off of trucks and the ground. The individual must be capable of positioning self to load and unload trucks by ascending and descending truck steps and; as well as inspecting and maintaining vehicles, supplies, and equipment. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office, shop, and customer jobsites. Must be able to detect mechanical issues and part defects from short distances to determine what action needs to be taken. They must regularly push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. The individual must be capable of transporting different parts and tools required to do the job.

Special Requirements

Class A CDL or Class B CDL. Workers will be subjected to pre-employment, upon suspicion, and upon accident/incident drug screening.
