Job description
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Duties performed: drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest, and store grain crops such as: rice, corn, and soybeans. Operations of late model John Deere and Case IH tractors pulling disc, field cultivator, land plane, air planters, levee disc, grain carts, and mowers. Workers may also operate B29SR John Deere Tractor, 290 Case IH Tractor, 9370 Case IH Tractor, 5310 John Deere Tractor, M130 John Deere Tractor, International Pro-Series Big Truck with hopper bottom trailer. Operation of harvesting equipment including Case IH combine. Operation of R4023 John Deere Sprayer, applying pesticides to crops. Operation of 18-wheeler grain truck (no CDL required). Perform a variety of duties such as lubricating and making minor repairs to farm machinery. Cleaning and servicing sprayers and water trucks. Workers may transport other workers to/from worksite to housing and to/from the grocery store each week. Workers will have 2 vehicles accessible at all times and will be able to use them to drive to fields and grocery. These vehicles may also be used to haul tools and supplies needed to perform daily jobs to workers on the farm. Each worker drives himself most times. The transportation duties are "as needed" and not on a fixed plan or schedule.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years or older. Employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants for employment. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. There is a lifting requirement of 100 lbs. The majority of the workday is spent outdoors. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull reach, and lift. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other natural elements. Worker must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required job duties. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and to communicate with supervisor when needed. Workers should come prepared wearing
