Job description

Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, back-hoes, mowers, track-hoes, ATVS/side by sides, and semi-trucks. Participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; building, constructing and maintaining levees, installing and removing levy gates and putting in spillways. Manual duties include but are not limited to loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, rocks, trash, and other objects from fields; welding; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, fences, gates, barns and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; mowing and landscaping around the farm; and lifting items as needed. Duties also include receiving crop for drying and storage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain; transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scale tickets; and shoveling grain. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions.

Workers may receive salary increases and merit-based bonuses based upon merit, skill, and/or experience at the sole discretion of the employer.

Special Requirements

3 months experience in precision dirt moving with GPS equipment required. Must have or be able to obtain drivers license within 30 days of hire. Due to the use of vehicles and heavy machinery, drug testing may be conducted post-hire at the employers expense and is not part of the interview process. All workers may be subject to mandatory testing if they have been involved in a reportable accident or upon reasonable suspicion that drug use is impacting job performance.
