Job description
Job requires operating farm equipment including, but not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, front end loaders, balers, cutters, disc mowers, wheel rakes, combines, and farm trucks to till soil; prepare and manage land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, cultivate, spray, harvest, and transport crops to grain bins or storage facility. Job also requires performing mechanical repair and maintenance on equipment; regularly cleaning and servicing equipment; greasing and prepping equipment daily; replacing blades and bolts on equipment when necessary; cutting, raking, baling, and hauling hay; transporting fuel to farm equipment during field work; checking and repairing property borders; rolling out and stretching barbed wire for property borders; using chain saws to remove fallen trees; removing debris from fields or other farm locations; working in and around grain bins by operating grain conveying equipment such as augers, operating grain vacuums, and shoveling and sweeping grain. Workers will perform duties with cattle including feeding cattle round hay bales filling feeders; penning and sorting cattle; vaccinating, deworming, and castrating calves; treating potential sick calves; weighing, sorting, and loading semi loads of steers and heifers to ship to feed yards; bush hogging/clipping pastures. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, or field conditions. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Job requires having or being able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. Workers will perform duties outdoors during periods when temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Job duties will require workers to push, pull, sit, walk, stoop, bend over, or perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
