Job description
Crops: Cherries.These crops listedmay or maynot be planted and employer is not limitedto onlythese crops listed
General farm labor: Provide general labor to assist in the establishment and Maintenance of orchard properties byclearing
property, planning trees, pruning, weeding,raking brush, thinning, irrigation installation and repair/maintenance of sprinklers. Clean work areas, and maintain grounds and landscaping, applybasic fertilizer without the use of equipment *(spot treatment),rodent control, qualitycontrol, and anyother general labor necessary during harvest.
Operate farm equipment:Tractors, orchard forklift, brush mower, grass
mower, ATV, RTV (side-by-side) Check grease and oil before driving equipment and perform daily preventive maintenance
checks.
Pruning: Pruning numerous varieties of cherries according to established companyprocedures.Work will be performedon crops
for long periods oftime usinga variety of pruning equipment including hand shears, hand loppers, power pruners, chainsaws,
hand saws and 10 -12 feet ladders.Pruning maybe down on the ground or on ladder up to 12 feet In height.Workers will be
instructed to prune an entire work site or select trees based on size, color, or otherwise directed bycrew boss or orchard
manager
Tractor driving: A tractor operator must be able to operate a manual transmissionstyle clutch and gear operation.The
operator must perform dailyinspections duringstart up and shutdown of the machine such as checking oil levels, cleaningair
filters, greasing bearings and checking tire pressures.The operations the employee maybe asked to do may be running
implements such as a mower, bin trailer, or bin forks and sprayequipment.The operator will stage the production area with
bins for harvesting,remove filled bins to the loading area and move equipment between orchards and to the equipment sheds.
The operator will be trained on all tasks and safetyregulations set bythe manufacturer's guidelines andsign off that they have
been properly trained. Chemical Application: Job consists of successfullycompleting andreceiving the worker protection
standard training program.This training willbe provided by employers certified trainer at no cost to the employee.Employees
will operate tractor with a mechanical sprayer attached that contains chemicals, fertilizers, insecticides, or herbicides used
during the growing and crop maintenance process.
Appropriate mixing ofmaterials will be required, as wellas use ofall requiredpersonalprotective equipment as dictated bythe
label ofproduct or companypolicy. Aload sheet will be provided detailing the instructions ofthe chemical applicationbythe
orchard manager or supervisor.Spraylogs must be completed and turned over to designated leadatthe end of the application.
Lead chemical applicator will submit all application logs bythe end of the day. This position requires reading, writing and
comprehension skills in English, or employee's native language.
The Employer attests that all workers will be properlytrained in the Worker Protections Standard (WPS) byqualified WPS trainers
who have completed an EPA-approved Train-the- Trainer course pursuant to the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
Special Requirements
2) Worker must possess 3 months of treefruit agricultural experience.
4e) Must be able to lift and/or load 60lbs.
4g) Work may take place w hen temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
4h) May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, w heelbarrows, fruit containers, etc.
4i) May require w orker to sit and/or walk for extensive periods of time while sorting, picking, examining, w eeding, transporting, pruning, etc.
4j) Workers w ill be required to stoop and/or bend over w hile performing farmlabor such as weeding, irrigating, pruning, picking, removing debris,
etc.
4k) There w ill be repetitive movements w hile performing most of the farmlabor duties, for example picking, sorting, pruning, shoveling,
w eeding, etc.
