Job description
Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, cultivate, and harvest crops. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, back-hoes, mowers, and ATVs/side by sides. Duties include participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops. Manual duties include loading seed into planters; changing combine cutting heads; clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; mechanical repair and maintenance of equipment; mowing and landscaping on farm; and lifting items as needed. Employees will be receiving crop for drying and storage at grain storage facility; loading and unloading grain into trucks; operating grain conveying equipment; and shoveling grain. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, or walking. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
