Job description
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse such as: Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) such as combine, picker, module builder, boll buggy, grain cart, tillage tool to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest grain, oilseed, and fiber crops; Load inputs and drive trucks to transport to employer’s fields, load employer’s crops and drive trucks to transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, bins, silos, piles/bags in close proximity to the farm; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Haul and spread inputs, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Attach implements using hand tools. The driving duties requested by this application are those consistent with the tasks outlined by 45-2092 which include machinery operated by the workers such as combines, sprayers, trucks, loaders, four wheel drive tractors with carts, trailers, planter/seeders, or tillage tools attached, pickups, UTVs, etc. Those pieces of machinery have weights ranging from 1,500 to 90,000 lbs, generally travel at slow speeds over short distances, and do not require any experience, licensing, or training above those normal and accepted under SOC Code 45-2092.
