Job description

SPRAYING: Under the supervision or direction of an individual with a WSDA Private Applicators License. Mix or apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, miticides, antibiotics, rodenticide, bird repellent, or insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation, or chemical application on trees, shrubs, lawns, or crops. Mix chemicals for application to trees, shrubs, lawns, or plants. Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formulas. Lift, push, and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes to direct spray over designated areas. Identify lawn or plant diseases to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Cover areas to specified depths with pesticides, applying knowledge of weather conditions, droplet sizes, elevation-to-distance ratios, and obstructions. Start motors and engage machinery, such as sprayer agitators or pumps or portable spray equipment. Connect hoses and nozzles selected according to terrain, distribution pattern requirements, types of infestations, and velocities. Clean or service spraying machinery to ensure operating efficiency, using water, gasoline, lubricants, or hand tools. Prepare chemicals for work application. Treat greenery or surfaces with protective substances. Inspect nursery to determine treatment needs. Operate grounds maintenance equipment, in relation to spraying or applying chemicals.

VAN DRIVER: Employee may drive 12 or 15 passenger vans or other company-owned vehicles over the road. Employee must possess a valid standard driver’s license. Employee picks up workers from different housing sites/pick up points and takes them to an assigned work site and at the end of the workday takes them back to the housing site/pick up point. Employee will also work in the assigned crew at the assigned worksite. Employee will transport workers once a week to local grocery stores or businesses to run errands. Employee will obey all traffic laws and comply with state and federal regulations. Employee will follow procedures and regulations to ensure passenger safety. Employee will perform regular maintenance inspections to ensure vehicle is working properly and report any issues promptly. Employee will keep the vehicle clean. In accordance with company policy, employee may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination.

Special Requirements

B2) Worker must possess 3 months of pesticide/herbicide spraying, 1 year of driving, and 3 months of tree fruit experience.
