Job description
All applicants must be able, willing, and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment. Workers will perform a combination of tasks involved in the planting, cultivating, and harvesting of diversified ground crops according to the instructions of the supervisor. Workers will drive tractors, and other large farm equipment, including loaders, and skid steers. The worker must have an Endorsement F or G license from the State of New York to operate a Designated Covered Farm Vehicle to operate within New York State. The employer will cover this expense and allow 30 days to obtain this endorsement. Workers will repair fences and plant alfalfa and spread manure. Starting in April through June, workers will plant corn and other vegetables. From June through September, workers will harvest hay. In September through early December, workers will perform duties of corn harvest, tillage of vegetables and farm crop land. Worker will also perform other duties related to planting, maintaining, and harvesting of crops. Workers will load and unload trucks and must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently. Work requires standing, kneeling and bending for long periods of time. Worker must be willing to work in varied weather conditions from cold, damp spring and fall days to hot, humid summer days. Workers must be available to work on Saturdays. Beginning and ending times will vary depending on the crop conditions. Worker will be given a ½ hour lunch break and a 15-minute break in the morning and afternoon. Worker must take directions in simple English.
