Job description
Load and unload crops or containers of materials, manually or using conveyors, handtrucks, forklifts,
or transfer augers. Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery
malfunctions. Load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts,
transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks. Drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools, or
farm workers. Use handtools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, or precision
instruments, as well as power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, or jacks
and hoists. Clean and lubricate parts. Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading,
using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary. Drive trucks with capacities
greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, livestock,
or other materials. Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles. Inspect and maintain
vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles
are in proper working condition. Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing
statements, in accordance with regulations. Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons to
transport materials to and from specified destinations, such as railroad stations, plants, residences,
offices, or within industrial yards. Use and maintain the tools or equipment found on commercial
vehicles, such as weighing or measuring devices.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Certified license is required. Must be able to
obtain a CDL within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen and background check
post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating expensive tools and equipment,
and the presence of children on farm sites.
