Job description

We need seasonal workers form March until December to assist with our farming operation. Employees will need to operate farm equipment including John Deere tractors with front wheel assist, farm trucks and wagons, Volvo wheel loaders, bobcats, and skid loaders. Starting in the spring, employees will spread manure on fields. In the fall, employees will assist with harvesting high moisture corn and haul crops to storage locations. Employees will need to load and haul hay and corn stalks to storage locations for later use. During the months of March through May duties include cattle pen cleaning and maintenance and processing calf arrivals. During the winter months we do not put down new bedding but just add additional bedding since the winter weather outside does not permit hauling and moving bedding. During these months it is very labor intensive to clean out the build-up bedding and cleaning and getting ready for the summer season. During the months of May through December employees will also need to work cattle including vaccinate, lice control and implant Revalor products behind ears. The summer is also the time when intensive care is needed to treat for disease and insects to maintain cattle health. During the months of May through August employees will need to haul dirt to replenish pen quality. Dirt cannot be added after August 1 since there will not be enough time for the dirt to compact before the winter months. During the months of May through November sick cattle are also put in pastures and need to be check and cared for. This is the only time cattle can graze in grass pastures before the winter months start and they need to be confined. From June 15 until around October 15, employees will need to monitor temperatures in feed lot and turn on and maintain sprinkler systems. The feedlot temperature needs to be monitored and maintained for optimal animal care. When temperatures go above 80 degrees the sprinkler systems are turned on and when it drops below 80 degrees the sprinklers are turned off. No sprinkler maintenance and repairs are needed during the colder months. Employees will be required to complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. Employees will be required to complete general farm duties including building and maintaining fences, mowing grass, providing weed control, do farm maintenance and improvements and other farm duties as assigned. During the summer months we also need to wash and clean equipment.
