Job description
Under SOC Code 45-2091.00, Agricultural Equipment Operators:
Planting, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting crops including potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and grains. Drive and operate farm equipment used in agricultural production such as tractors and combines. Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, and drills to tractors and drive tractors in field to till soil, plant, and spray crops. Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery. Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Drive trucks to haul crops and seed, from fields to storage buildings on farm.
Under SOC Code 45-2092.00, Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop:
Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs. Workers injured on the job and unable to perform the full range of duties may be offered light duty, if available. Light duty tasks may vary depending on availability of task, nature of worker's injury, and instructions from worker's physician. Light duty tasks may include any combination of the following: Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs. Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping.
Special Requirements
This job requires a minimum of three months of prior experience in the operation of agricultural equipment required to perform a variety of duties in crop farming which include preparation, planting, irrigation and harvest. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30-60 days of hire. Must be able to lift/carry 60 lbs. Work week is generally Monday through Saturday (Saturday work required); with Sunday work offered but not required. Employer-paid post-hire
drug testing is required after a worker has an accident at work and upon reasonable suspicion of use. Employer has a strict policy banning use, possession, transfer, offer, sale or manufacture of controlled substances or marijuana. All work sites and all facilities of the employer are drug free workplaces. Workers may not report for work, enter the
employers property, or perform service while under the influence of or having used illegal controlled substances or marijuana.
