Job description

Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, harvest, cutting, rolling, stacking, preparing for shipping sod, and sod delivery. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, forklifts, skid steers. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. The job includes working fields to prepare for next crop which includes putting down net material which consist of laying out netting and bending down to put stakes in the ground. Employees will participate in irrigation activities including setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops. Duties also include possibly applying seed to fields by hand; loading seed into planters; loading and unloading trucks; welding for equipment repair; handling bags of seed; installing turf/sod grass; lifting other items as needed such as mulch and rolls of sod and other supplies; climbing up and down ladders; general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, barns and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; mowing and landscaping on the farm; and lifting items as needed. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Special Requirements

The job will require lifting weights of up to 50 lbs; having, or being able to obtain, a driver's license within 30 days of hire; exposure to summer temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit; pushing, pulling, stooping, bending over, sitting, walking and repetitive movements while working. Drug screening may be done post-hire at the employer's expense. Criminal background checks may be possible post-hire at the employer's expense. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. Drug testing and criminal background check may be performed to ensure safety on and around the worksite since employees will be operating heavy equipment.
