Job description

Winter duties such as: weed control, using weedeaters and long handled shovels; winter pruning with pruning shears; paint vine wounds with wound sealant; pull brush out of the canopy. Move and reposition trellising wires including walking along the vineyard rows and securing the wire to the trellises; tying young vines to training rods (requiring stooping, leaning over) using pruning shears and green tape; tie vines and secure vines to the trellising system.

Activities starting in spring: canopy management including suckering undesirable shoots on the vines from the trunk (requiring stooping and leaning over, while walking down the vineyard rows); shoot positioning, tucking shoots inside the wires on the trellises system, leaf removal in the fruit zone, pulling leaves away from the fruit in the fruit area; removing crop for crop adjustment with pruning shears; cane trimming with handheld hedgers and gas powered hedgers; manually applying fertilizer at the base of each vine; hand harvesting grapes; installation of new vineyards, which includes layout and marking fields, installing pencil rods and hand installing trellises; installing irrigation systems, including digging and digging irrigation pipes; expected field maintenance will include fixing spray nozzles, unclogging filters and similar functions.
