Job description

Job duties require operating heavy equipment including, but not limited to, fertilizer and lime self propelled applicators, front end loaders, self propelled sprayers, forklifts, backhoe, excavator, conveyors, self propelled mower, tender trailers, tractors with various implements attached, combines, pick up trucks, and trucks to transport equipment to and from jobs as well as to harvest and transport crops to elevator or storage areas. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and/or equipment and driven on the farm and to storage facilities or other worksite addresses. Job will also require using hand tools to perform repair and maintenance on field and fertilizer equipment, removing undesirable plants and objects from fields, cleaning equipment with pressure washers, cleaning in and around shop areas to ensure that operational areas are maintained and organized, using mowers and other tools to maintain yards and facilities. Other manual duties include securing equipment for transport, laying and removal of poly pipe and other irrigation systems, mechanic work, maintenance of all fertilizer applicators/associated equipment, farm equipment, headquarters and office locations, painting around the shop as needed, loading and shoveling fertilizer and lime, securing equipment for transport, and shovel work. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Special Requirements

Basic English literacy, reading, and math skills are required. Applicants must have or be able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire and have 3 months of experience. Applicants must be able to use and understand the GPS equipment and variable rate technology within the machinery. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, or repetitive movements. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
