Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Rice, Soybeans, Corn, and Milo: Assist in all aspects of plantings, cultivating, and harvesting field crops. Help maintain the quality of crops by operating machinery and doing physical labor under the supervision of a farm owner or manager. Machinery includes, but is not limited to: tractors, combines, grain carts, planters, pick-up trucks, land plane, levee disk, rollers, and DMI's. Use hand tools for manual procedure when required. Hand tools include, but are not limited to: hammers, wrenches, sockets, prybars, welders (to perform minor repairs), air compressors, and more. Drive and control farm equipment to till soil and to plant, cultivate, and harvest crops. Perform tasks such as cutting, raking, and mowing. Operate stationary equipment to perform post-harvest tasks such as husking, shelling, threshing, etc. Diagnose, adjust, make minor repairs, and maintain farm machines and vehicles. Lift and move heavy parts and tools, handle greasy and dirty equipment, and stand or lie in uncomfortable positions. Transport vehicles, equipment, and crop products among fields or to other destinations, as required. Ensure that field trucks are fully equipped and supplied. Load and unload grain bins and perform general maintenance (grease bearings, sweep floors, replace augers, etc.) Workers will be expected to maintain the grounds at the shop and the housing residence by mowing the grass and keeping the grounds clean. May drive workers to/from housing to fields and to grocery store.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years old or older. 3 months experience required in harvesting row crops and operating agricultural machinery. Lifting requirement may have a range of 5-60 lbs. Workers will receive on-the-job training for operation of equipment, vehicles, tools, and new procedures. Valid driver's license is required to operate company vehicles. Employer may conduct background checks on all new applicants for employment at employer's expense. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and to communicate with supervisor when needed. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. Workers must not have any physical limitations that would prevent them from performing duties of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Workers should expect periods of little/no work and hours and days will vary due to weather conditions
