Job description

6:30am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday, with a 1-hour lunch; During grinding, workers will work 7 days per week or 50 hours, with a 1-hour lunch. Workers will perform the following: Prepare fields for cultivation; manual shovel work; plant/harvest sugarcane and soybeans; minor maintenance of farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; operation of field equipment on farm; farm field and shop sanitation duties. Workers must be able to lift 50 pounds. Three (3) months of farm work experience required. Work is to be completed in weather from extreme heat to rain and extreme cold. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract. Housing is provided at no cost for workers who cannot reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday. Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
