Job description
Weeding using long-handled hoes, transplanting, runner cutting, plant thinning, ranch maintenance, setup and movement of irrigation equipment, repairs to irrigation lines, pulling plastic, pulling of drip tape, cleaning of old and new vegetative growth on plant bed. Plant bed will be classified as Medium or High according to the amount of runners and new/old vegetative growth present during performing work tasks. During the watermelon harvest, they will cut watermelons, lift and hand it to the "pitcher". "Pitchers" will carry the watermelon and hand it off to the "Packer". "Packers" will take the watermelon and pack it into a bin on the truck in the field. Workers must be able to lift 50 lbs. and will be exposed to repetitive movements, bending and stooping for long periods, extensive walking, and extreme temperatures.
Special Requirements
Workers are required to have one month of watermelon harvesting experience.
