Job description
Job duties include operating various farm equipment to prepare ground, plant, spray, irrigate, harvest, and transport crops to the elevator during harvest. Equipment that employees will operate includes but is not limited to tractors, tractors with various implements attached, sprayers, combine, and cotton picker. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Duties will also include occasional carpentry work if needed on sheds; maintenance on all farm equipment; maintenance on farm sheds, shop, and grain storage facility; cutting grass with riding lawn mower; and weed eating around fences around the shop and sheds. Employees will also perform manual labor such as laying poly pipe, getting water to flow in the right direction, and loading poly pipe; chopping weeds from time to time in fields when needed; grain bin sweeping at end of harvest time; shoveling while irrigating as needed; and washing and cleaning equipment when needed. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Employees will be lifting objects around the shop area and in fields. It may get up do 100 degree temperatures during irrigation time. Pushing and pulling may occur when working on equipment or working in/around grain bins; other job requirements are possible when performing other farm tasks such as driving tractors, working around the shop, irrigating crops, and performing maintenance.
