Job description

Hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday- Friday and 7:00am-12:30pm on Saturday, with a 30 minute, unpaid, lunch break, and a 15 minute, paid, break. Duties include manual planting, harvesting shrubs, ornamental plants, trees, flowers. Spraying, pulling, loading and unloading plants. Using hand tools (shovels, trowels, sprayer, hoes, pruning hooks, shears, etc.). Tilling soil, mulching, transplanting, weeding, thinning, and pruning. Farm, field and shed sanitation. Grading, sorting and packing. Working in nursery facility. Irrigation and cultivation. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Apply fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases. Minor maintenance and operation of farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, fertilizers, pesticides, insect spray and related chemicals, etc., may affect workers ability to perform the job. Work is done in all kinds of weather from extreme heat to cold and rain. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract. Housing is provided at no cost for workers who cannot reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday. Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
