Job description

All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 & 4, page 1. Workers are needed to raise and care for our honeybees. The worker will build and maintain beehives, extract and bottle honey, remove hive parasites and maintaining the health of the hive. Workers will assemble beehives to the desired specifications, force bees from a hive using a smoke pot to inspect the hive, destroy excess queen bee cells to prevent the division of a colony, treat hives for parasites and remove vermin, extracting honey from beehive frames. Workers will also cultivate queen bees to sell to other apiaries as well as split colonies.

The employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform assigned duties. Workers must be able to work in various extreme weather conditions from damp and cold spring and fall days to hot and humid summer days. Work is physically demanding requiring workers to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time, as well as kneeling or work on knees during specified tasks. Workers may require to work 7 hours shift within the hours of 8:00am - 7:00pm. Worker will be given at least 30 minutes for lunch. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Workers must be available for work Monday through Saturday. The ability to stay calm under pressure is a must. Workers may operate trucks or other multipurpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties, haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmers fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank and western Union on an as needed basis . Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid driver license, no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Work will start in South Carolina on March 11, 2024, then will travel to Vermont on May 5, 2024. The worker will stay in Vermont until the end of the work period on October 30, 2024.

Special Requirements

Worker will start job duties in SC then be transported to VT in May at no cost to the workers for the remainder of the job order.
