Job description
Planting, Cultivating, & Harvesting Row Crop: Duties to include, but not limited to: Workers may drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store grain crops such as corn, wheat, soybeans, etc. Attach farm implements such as plow, disc, and drill to tractor and drive tractor in field to till soil and plant / cultivate crop. Perform variety of other duties such as husking and shelling corn, lubricating and repairing farm machinery and unloading grain onto conveyors to storage bins and elevators. Harvest, sort, and pack crops for sale or distribution. Ensure proper handling and storage of harvested produce. Assist with planting crops according to seasonal schedules. Monitor and maintain crop health by identifying and addressing issues such as pests and diseases. Perform weed control and implement irrigation systems as necessary. Assist in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops. Monitor and maintain crop health by weeding and applying fertilizers or pesticides as directed. Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs. Record information about plants and plant growth. Safely and efficiently harvest crops at the right stage of maturity. Maintain accurate records of daily activities, such as planting dates, crop yields, and equipment maintenance. Maintain records of daily activities, including planting and harvest schedules, equipment usage, and inventory. Assist in set-up of product for sale of crop.
Grain
Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines, grain bin cleaning, and irrigation equipment. loading/unloading grain trucks, transfers grain through elevator grain system, clean out grain bins, elevator repair, unloads grain onto conveyors for storage in bins, operate machinery for cleaning of grain, cleaning grain bins, transferring grain from one bin to another clean bin, and maintenance on grain bins. Workers must be able to climb heights. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on farm equipment and machinery. Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition and report any issues to the farm manager via text. Operate farm machinery and equipment, such as tractors, plows, and mowers. Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on farm equipment.
Alternative Work;
General farm maintenance and other duties as required in the farming operation maintenance. Maintain and repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Keep farm premises clean and organized, ensuring a safe and productive work environment. Feed and provide proper care for livestock, poultry, or pigs including feeding, watering, and sheltering. Assist with breeding and medical care for animals as needed. Clean and maintain animal enclosures, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation. Assist with breeding, birthing, and general health checks of animals. Such work will be offered when climate or crop conditions preclude working in the primary activities listed above and only after the first week guarantee is met.
Qualifications:
• Previous 3 months experience in farming or agriculture.
• Knowledge of farming techniques, crop cycles, and animal husbandry is a plus.
• Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery safely.
• Physical stamina and endurance to perform tasks in various weather conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
• Basic knowledge of safety protocols and farm regulations.
• Physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from farm supervisors.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Attention to detail and a strong commitment to farm safety.
Special Requirements
Previous 3 months experience in farming or agriculture. Physically able to bend, stoop, and able to stand on feet for long periods of time. Physically able to meet and perform all job specifications. May be required to take random drug and / or alcohol tests, at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. All testing and background check will occur after employment has started and is not a part of the interview process. May be required to submit a criminal background check, at no cost to the worker. Felony convictions that employer reasonably believes, consistent with current law, will impair the safety and living conditions of other workers or other individuals on the farm will result in immediate termination. Failure to comply with request for criminal background check may result in immediate termination of employment.
