Job description
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Duties may include tilling & mixing soil, filling nursery pots with soil, applying fertilizers, transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning plants, tagging, cutting sprouts, grafting citrus, and cleaning plants. Workers may plant seeds by hand, replants plants not larger pots and participate in watering plants. Workers will also be expected to inspect plants for damage or disease and report findings to supervisors. Workers may also prepare (pack) plants for shipping which takes place in the greenhouse. Workers will cover & maintain, clean & organize greenhouses & area around grounds. Greenhouses and sheds will need to be cleaned and organized after use. Workers will not drive trucks however, they will be expected to sweep and clean out delivery trucks for next day's deliveries. Workers will use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years or older. There is a lifting requirement of 5 to 30 lbs. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, lift, and extensive walking. Work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other natural elements. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and to communicate with the supervisor when needed. Workers should expect periods of little/no work and hours and days will vary due to weather conditions beyond the employers control and daily hours may be extended due to planting/harvesting demands.
