Job description
Worker will landscape and maintain residential and commercial properties using various landscaping equipment such as a mower, edger, handsaw, pole pruner, weed eater, hedge trimmer and a blower as directed by supervisor. Worker will mow and trim grass as well as plant flowers, trees and shrubs. Worker will prune trees and shrubs by hand, hand weed, apply mulch, and perform general grounds clean-up as instructed by supervisor. If worker is eligible to drive under Michigan law, Employer may require worker to drive in Employer-provided vehicles to and from the worksite and to locations within 15 miles as directed. To be eligible for driving jobs, worker must understand and agree to driving rules, as outlined in work rules below. Worker will be required to lift various equipment and lawn and garden materials weighing up to 50 pounds. For tree and shrub planting, workers may be asked to jointly lift trees or shrubs weighing up to 100 pounds. Pay will be hourly.
Special Requirements
3 months verifiable commercial landscaping experience required. Applicants must furnish job references from employers within the last 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience.
50 POUND LIFTING REQUIREMENT. SOME TASKS WILL REQUIRE TWO OR MORE WORKERS TO JOINTLY LIFT 100 POUNDS, HOWEVER, THE EMPLOYER WILL USE 50 POUNDS AS THE GENERAL LIFTING REQUIREMENT.
FULL SEASON COMMITMENT: JOB OFFERED REQUIRES WORKER BE AVAILABLE FOR WORK EVERY DAY THAT WORK IS AVAILABLE FOR FULL EMPLOYMENT PERIOD. WORKER AGREES TO BE AVAILABLE FOR AND PERFORM THE ASSIGNED WORK WHENEVER WORK IS AVAILABLE THROUGH FULL EMPLOYMENT PERIOD.
WORKER MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM ALL DUTIES WITHIN JOB DESCRIPTION IN SAFE MANNER ADHERING TO ALL ESTABLISHED SAFETY GUIDELINES, PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES. WORKER MUST POSSESS REQUISITE PHYSICAL STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE TO REPEAT LANDSCAPING LABOR PROCESS THROUGHOUT WORKDAY. WORKER MUST WORK AT SUSTAINED PACE AND MAKE GOOD FAITH EFFORTS TO WORK EFFICIENTLY AS REASONABLE UNDER WORKING CONDITIONS. WORK MAY BE PERFORMED DURING MODERATE RAIN AND IN HIGH HUMIDITY AND IN TEMPERATURES AS LOW AS 15 DEGREES F AND UP TO 105 DEGREES F. WORKER MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK OUTSIDE WHEN GRASS/PLANTS ARE WET WITH DEW/RAIN AND SHOULD HAVE SUITABLE CLOTHING FOR VARIABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS. EMPLOYER PROVIDES INSTRUCTIONS AND GENERAL SUPERVISION. WORKER MUST CONFORM TO SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN FOR EACH DAYS WORK. ALL WORK RELATED INJURIES MUST BE IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO EMPLOYER.
WORKER MUST WEAR ALL REQUIRED AND ASSIGNED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AT ALL REQUIRED TIMES. WORKER MUST WEAR PROPER CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR FOR CONDITIONS AND ALL FOOTWEAR MUST BE CLOSED-TOE.
EMPLOYER CONDUCTS AND WORKER MUST ATTEND ORIENTATION ON WORKPLACE RULES, POLICIES AND SAFETY INFORMATION. WORKER MUST FOLLOW WORK RULES. OTHER DUTIES ASSIGNED UNDER THIS ORDER WILL BE CONSISTENT WITH LANDSCAPING WORKERS, UNDER THE BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS OCCUPATIONAL EMPLOYMENT STATISTICS STANDARD OCCUPATIONAL CLASSIFICATION CODE 37-3011.
