Job description
Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chain-saw, and electric clippers. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, saws, and axes. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Mow and edge/trim lawns, using power mowers and edgers. Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, and trimming and edging around lakes and ponds. Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plants and foliage. Lay sod. Haul or spread topsoil, and spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place. Rake, mulch, and compost leaves. Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws. Workers’ tasks will be to prune and trim trees on the ground. Gather and remove litter. Maintain and repair tools, equipment using hand and power tools. Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders. Care for natural turf fields, making sure the underlying soil has the required composition to allow proper drainage and to support the grasses used on the fields. Complete maintenance on various ponds, lakes, and other stormwater control measures. Maintenance activities may include mowing, invasive plants, treatment or removal, trash removal turf establishment minor repairs, device inspection, etc. Operate tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner as necessary to complete project scope includes but is not limited to zero-turn mowers, slope mowers, string trimmers, UTV, jon boat, kayak, handtools, etc. Communicate effectively with other crew members and Regional Manager to clarify project scope as needed and to avoid return visits to project sites. Inspect and maintain vehicles and equipment to ensure all tools are in safe, working condition at all times.
Special Requirements
Must be able to swim and have the ability to lift 50 lbs. Requires physical stamina. Work outdoors in extreme temperatures, and in adverse weather. Post-hire background check and employment eligibility (e-Verify) check required of foreign and domestic workers. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
