Job description
Operate industrial trucks, tractors and other heavy material-moving equipment such as but not limited to off-road trucks, excavators, front-end loaders, bulldozers, skidsters, weed wackers, mowers, leaf blowers, log loaders, fork lifts, roller, screener, stackers, grinder, colorizer, sweeper, chipper, skidders and feller buncher to move fiber and other wood products/material in our yard or other job locations. Any loads delivered to our yard by a walking floor trailer or dumping trailer will be sorted, loaded or unloaded by using a wheel loader, or sorted/cleaned with the use of a pitch forks, shovels, wheel barrels or broom to remove any unwanted product including but not limited to plastic, stone or any other foreign products. This daily routine may be done sporadically during the day, or at the beginning/end of shift at the yard or any job location as needed. Secure materials/products for transport to designated areas including leveling loads to be delivered with the use of pitch forks, shovels and brooms. Clean/inspect equipment and perform necessary basic maintenance tasks to any of the equipment listed in this job description including but not limited to fueling, greasing, changing oils, pressure washing and any other basic maintenance requirements. In regard to equipment, remove or install attachments. Maintain cleanliness of any equipment at all time and operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer’s products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Must wear steel toe boots provided by employee. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing, pants, or jeans (no shorts), and steel toe boots. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not be permitted to start work. Hard hats, safety vests, safety glasses and any hearing protection will be supplied by employer. Outdoor work is required during all four seasons of the year. Must maintain daily time card including recording 30 minute lunch break daily as required by NYS law. Work schedule 10-12 hours/day. 50 hours/week Monday – Sunday, shift 6:00 am – 6:00pm. Work schedules are 5 days a week with 2 days off with the exception of possible Saturdays due to scheduling. These days may vary. Shift allocation will be communicated to each worker before the first day of work and will depend on availability.
Special Requirements
Requires six months of equipment operator experience. Must lift/carry 75 lbs., when necessary. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
