Forestry Worker

Job description

Possible duties: dig holes to plant seedling trees without J or U root, carefully secure seedling with soil, maintain seedling growth by spray, hand prune, maintain surrounding vegetation, pile/remove debris, identify disease/undesirable trees and remove them, thin and space trees with the use of power saws and hand saws. Gather/Package Forest Products. Maintain tallies of trees examined.

Dispose of brush, thin and space trees.

Maintain tallies of trees examined during tree marking or measuring efforts & other forestry activities as per SCA Forest and Land Management Services.

Special Requirements

JOB DUTIES REQUIRE MOVING YOUR ENTIRE BODY, SUCH AS CLIMBING, LIFTING, BALANCING, WALKING, STOOPING AND HANDLING OF MATERIALS. 3 MONTHS BRUSHSAW/CHAINSAW EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Carry 50 lbs.

* Must be 18 years or older due to travel. Extensive walking through rough/forest terrain. Possible holiday/weekend work.
* Outdoors, exposed to weather; must be capable of doing physically strenuous labor for long hours, occasionally in extreme heat or cold.
* Variable weather condition applies; hours may fluctuate (+/-), possible downtime and/or OT. OT no required.
