Job description
Landscape or maintain grounds, including sprinkler installation, trenching, and digging to install sprinkler pipe, sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting of trees and shrubs, watering, weeding, raking. Workers will use mowers, blowers, and hand tools, such as shovels, picks, rakes, pruning saws, hedge or brush trimmers. There are three main digging projects that the landscape workers will complete: 1) Trenching: Trenching is mainly done with “trenching shovels” for sprinkler system trenches that are 6 inches wide and 12 inches deep. 2) Substrate leveling: Digging to level the substrate of the ground is done at depths of about 4 to 6 inches, done with shovels and mattock picks. 3) Tree Planting: Digging to plant trees is mainly done at depths of about 12 to 36 inches with shovels and mattock picks. May perform other job duties pursuant to SOC Code 37-3011, Landscaping and Groundskeeping Workers. Minor trimming of trees from ground level and for trees that need to be tidied up before installation. Hand-held lopping shears, pruning saws, or bypass pruners are used for any minor trimming. Loading and unloading of materials and equipment. Lifting required up to 50lbs. Transportation provided to and from area jobsites from a centralized location in the area of intended employment.
