Job description

Foaling mares through May, bring foals home taking care of them, treating for illness, taking them out and in, teaching them how to be domesticated, and breeding mares. Will perform sales prep April through September - hand-walk yearlings, groom, turn them out in evening, clean stalls. The position is temporary in nature and ends when the yearlings are sold at the end of the season.

Special Requirements

Must have 3 months experience working with thoroughbred racehorses. No smoking or illegal weapons or controlled substances in the worksite or in the houses. Able to stoop, bend, and work in cold and wet conditions. Able to use tools such as pruning shears, knives, hand saws, weed eaters, hedgers, shovels. Safety use and training provided by employer. Workers must abide by Employer housing rules. Ability to communicate in English or Spanish is required for training and safety purposes. (i.e. Workers must listen to, understand and follow instructions of Employer supervisors and managers.) Must be able to lift 100 pounds.
