Job description
FARM LABORER: Worker will be required to complete the following activities: fruit tree planting & transplanting; vegetable planting and sowing; trellis system install, maintenance and removal; irrigation system install and maintenance; fruit tree and vegetable plant care and maintenance such as train, tying, prune, trim, stake, trunk painting or thin; general orchard and vegetable garden maintenance such as picking up rocks, removing old string and wire from trellis and orchard blocks, weeding, hoeing, fertilizing, or stump removal; wash and sanitize harvesting bins; drive and operate vehicles, trucks, tractors or other agricultural equipment such as forklifts; spray crops with tractor and spray attachment; routine general repairs and maintenance of farm equipment and tools on farm; hand harvest to quality standards of apples, apricots, asparagus, cherries, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, pumpkin/squash, rhubarb, strawberries, and commercial garden produce; pack employer's produce only to food safety standards; apple pressing, solely for employer’s product; conduct various field and farm clean up tasks at end of season.
Special Requirements
Experience Requirement: 3 verifiable months commercial agricultural experience in fruit or vegetable required. Applicants must furnish job references from recent employers within the last 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience.
Job requires worker to complete tasks in general farm labor, hand harvest of apples, apricots, asparagus, cherries, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, pumpkin/squash, rhubarb, strawberries, and commercial garden produce; and packing of employer produce only. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties.
Season Commitment: Job offered requires worker be available for and worker agrees to work every day that work is available for entire employment period.
Worker must be able to perform job description duties in safe manner consistent with established safety procedures.
