Job description

Sod Loading by Hand: Most sod is harvested by a machine and stacked on a pallet in the field. Customers come out to the field, and Farm Laborers take 2 by 5 little roll sod off the pallet and stack it on or in the staging area. Little rolls of sod weigh about 30-40 pounds each. Must be able to transfer 50 little rolls of sod by hand from a pallet held up by a forklift in about 2 minutes without stopping - on a busy day, you might load over 400 little rolls, which would be about 12,000 pounds. Forklift Operation: Using a forklift to load empty pallets on the sod stacking machine, staging full pallets from the stacking line, loading little roll sod by hand, and collecting harvested 2.5? by 80? big rolls (weighing about 600 pounds each), staging them for truck loading, and ultimately loading big rolls.
