Job description
The Irrigator/Farm Hand Worker will perform duties related farming, irrigation , harvesting and fencing and weed management. Workers' duties will will include Repair and maintain extensive fencing, maintenance and cleaning of farm and irrigation equipment in preparation of the growing season. Install and remove irrigation pipe, and frequently moving pipe. Irrigate crops using hand line, wheel line and pivots. Ongoing maintenance of irrigation equipment and overseeing operation of irrigation pumps. Repair fencing. Spray crops. Routine maintenance of farm machinery. Assist with haying and harvest operation, load/unload trucks in fields. Drive trucks, 4-wheeler and other farm implements in support of planting, cultivating, and irrigating of farm related crops. Frequent bending to pick rocks. Use hand tools to maintain farm machinery. Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions as needed. Maintain accurate irrigation records. Worker will be required to work odd/long hours and split shifts. The job entails working around farm animals and machinery, outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, wind and cold) and occasional exposure to environmental hazards. Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
Special Requirements
Sunday - worker may be requested to work on Sunday but not obligated to do so. 60 hrs/week - Avg. (depending on ranch activities and weather, hours could range from 40 - 70/wk. Long odd hours to be expected during harvest and night shifts during calving season. Normal hours are 7:30am to 7:00pm, Mon - Sat.
