Job description
Packing house work includes: cleaning packing house and arranging supplies in advance of harvest; moving pallets of berries from receiving porch to cool room and packing house; tray wash - stacking clean trays on pallets and moving pallets of clean trays; stacking berry trays of rejected fruit; emptying berry trays onto packing line; blueberry fruit inspection; loading plastic clam shells onto packing line; placing plastic clams of fruit into cardboard boxes; building and labeling finished pallets with cardboard boxes of fruit; washing and rinsing packing line daily; cleaning floors, removing trash materials and unusable fruit. Box Building Operators: loading stacks of flat, cardboard box materials onto machine; moving empty cardboard boxes onto pallets; placing cardboard boxes onto conveyor belt; moving pallets with hand jacks. Mechanical Harvester workers must be able to work outside, mostly at night; able to lift 50 pounds: Harvester Machine drivers – drives machine harvester and cleans machines daily; Harvester Worker - stacks empty trays on machine and stacks full trays on harvester and trailers while harvesting; also palletizes full berry trays for transport to receiving porch. Farm and field workers will operate multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing to farm site, around the farm and to grocery and banking facilities as appropriate. Workers set up, position and operate the mobile weigh station, stocking and maintaining it with scales, ice water, hand sanitizer, paper towels, trash cans, etc. Palletize full berry trays for transport to receiving porch. Move pallets of full berry trays to receiving porch by tractor, take empty trays to the field and assist in palletizing berry trays. Use hand tools to assist in pulling and digging weeds, irrigation pipe repair and repairing plant rows on days when harvesting is not possible.
Special Requirements
Monday-Saturday, Average 40 hrs/wk. Schedule & start/end times will vary dependent on qty of fruit to be processed, conditions of the crop, & weather. May be requested to work addl hours per day & weekends. Approx hours during harvest season: 9AM-5PM & 5PM-1AM. Drug testing during employment for cause. All drug testing is performed without regard to an employees citizenship or immigration status, and all testing is paid for by the company. No experience required, will train.
