Job description
We need seasonal employees to assist with our crop production season where we grow corn, wheat, barley, sorghum, cotton and peanuts. Employees will need to assist with all aspects of our crop operation. Planting season labor mainly consists of hours planting crops as well as keeping all planters running and full of seed. Shortly after planting season we begin to irrigate where every day if not twice a day we will be checking wells and irrigation systems and performing necessary maintenance to keep things running smoothly. During harvest season we will be harvesting crops and stacking modules for the gin to pick up. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, irrigation equipment, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, irrigate soil, using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps, install, maintain and repair pivot irrigation systems, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, position boxes or attach bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products, removing and closing full containers, attach equipment extensions or accessories, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, complete maintenance and repairs on irrigation equipment, record agricultural data, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting, operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops, plant, spray, weed, fertilize, water, and prune plants, shrubs, and trees, using gardening tools, record information about plants and plant growth, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, set up and operate irrigation equipment, build agricultural structures, clean equipment or facilities, confer with managers to make operational decisions, evaluate quality of plants or crops, harvest agricultural products, load agricultural or forestry products for shipment, maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products, maintain operational records, mark agricultural or forestry products for identification, operate farming equipment, operate irrigation systems, package agricultural products for shipment or further processing, perform manual agricultural, aquacultural, or horticultural tasks, plant crops, trees, or other plants, prepare land for agricultural use, sort forestry or agricultural materials, and transport crops, or equipment. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
***Please note for 2025 and all future years we will be adjusting our start date to March 1 to cover the entire crop season starting with field prep and planting.
Special Requirements
Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, extensive sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, repetitive movements. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Requires 3 months farm experience.
