Job description

Field Workers: to perform the following duties in strawberry fields.

Strawberry Harvester: The Strawberry field worker safely and efficiently harvests fresh and freezer strawberries. This position may perform other general labor work as defined in this job order.

Strawberry Plant Maintenance: The Strawberry fieldworker is responsible for safely and efficiently weeding, runner cutting, De-blooming, and planting strawberry fields. This position may perform other general labor work as defined in this job order.

Strawberry Checker/Puncher: The Strawberry fieldworker is responsible for berry quality and tracking harvest boxes picked by crew members. This position may perform other general work as defined in this job order.

Stacker: The Strawberry fieldworker is responsible for the organization of the harvest crew's boxes.  This position may perform other general labor work.  This position works under close supervision of the harvest crew leader. 

Strawberry Crew Lead/Row Boss:  

Under the direction of the Supervisor: monitors the work of other farm workers by assisting with pre-harvest process and audits, checks crew’s quality of work and product’s quality, and helps coordinate daily production and work, all of which are listed under SOC Code 45-2092 for Farmworkers.  This is a nonsupervisory position. The Crew Boss does not develop or implement training or supervise health and safety compliance. Those responsibilities belong to the First-line Supervisor/Foreperson assigned to each crew.

Special Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications:



Three months experience in strawberry harvest is required.

Work is performed in open fields and may involve exposure to mud, dust, wind, heat, cold, and other natural elements. Temperatures can range from 30 degrees Fahrenheit to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the period of employment. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described.

Requirements: 3-month row crop cleaning experience and harvesting experience to avoid crop damage. Written verification of experience is required. Must be able to use shears, clippers, hoe, and other agricultural tools, no smoking, illegal drugs, alcohol, or weapons of any sort in the housing or work fields. Ability to communicate in English or Spanish is encouraged for training and safety purposes. Workers must be able to physically perform the work stated herein.
