Job description

Job duties include, but are not limited to: Clearing, cleaning and preparing fields for planting. Erecting and maintaining greenhouses for planting seed. Planting seed in seed trays, transplanting plants into seed cups, and planting crops into fields. Applying fertilizer to croplands, preparing seed beds, applying plastic mulch and drip tape irrigation to seed beds, and installing irrigation pipes into fields. Prune plants, drive stakes in fields, and apply twine to secure plants. Hand pick tomatoes, melons, and various other vegetables or commodities. Process tomatoes, melons, and any other vegetables grown which includes grading, sorting, packing, stacking, counting, and labeling. Some tractor operation may be required. Drug tests may be administered post-hire at no cost to employee to ensure worker safety and to comply with workers compensation insurance requirements. Workers are required to follow all posted work and safety rules. Workers must be physically able to perform all duties described above. Work hours may vary from day to day depending upon weather conditions and crop cycles.

Special Requirements

Workers are hired by Clanton Farms LLC on a contract basis for harvesting tomatoes, melons, or other various vegetable crops or working in the packing facility, as well as any other general farm labor needed.

Employees are provided with necessary tools and equipment and may be charged for them if deliberately damaged, destroyed, or not properly returned to the employer.

Employees will be required to work all hours as directed by management personnel. This will include daily hours usually in excess of 8 hours per day and up to 10 hours, and up to 6 days a week as weather permits and contract deadlines dictate.
